Renny Tallman

A native of Pennsylvania, Renny Deremer Tallman was introduced to the cello at age three by her parents, both of whom are cellists.  After attending Ithaca College with a major in Television-Radio and a minor in music, Renny spent a year working in the public relations department of the Pittsburgh Symphony and playing cello with the North Pittsburgh Philharmonic and the Romanza String Quartet.  It was through these experiences that she realized she wanted to pursue a career in music education.

While studying music education at Penn State, Renny was a member of the Penn State Philharmonic Orchestra, Penn State Cello Choir and La Vergogna String Quartet.  She also spent three summers working at the Music at Penn’s Woods summer orchestra festival.

Since 2002, Renny has taught orchestra at the Shenendehowa Central School District.  She is currently the 6th and 9th grade orchestra director.

Renny has studied cello with William Deremer, Leonard Feldman, Elizabeth Simkin and Kim Cook.  She currently lives in Burnt Hills, New York, with her husband and three children.
